CHRISTMAS!

Christmas is next Friday! Cant you believe it!

I love Christmas! Its the best holliday in the year. Even better than my birthday! The only bad thing about christmas is that it goes to fast.. one day feels like one hour... :(

This year im spending my christmas here.. in Jakarta... My uncle is coming in from Singapore and i also am spendindg it with my families best friends family.

The thing i love about christmas is the food and the actual meaning of the celebration! Since im Christian i celebrate christmas as the day jesus was born. On Christmas morning we go down stairs and under the tree there are presents and in our stockings theres usually candy, chocolate and small gifts! but you only get it if your good. In the afternoon we have a Christmas feast with turkey and everything else. In the night we have another feast and we watch christmas movies and crave about our new gifts!

On Sunday last week my family and I set up our christmas trees. On the Christmas trees we put on ornaments and a star at the top. For the upstairs tree we get to decorate it however we want! because the downstairs tree is in the living room so we have to make it look nice. So my mum spaces the ornaments makes sure the colours are balanced and all that but the upstairs tree we put colourfull lights and coulurfull string and cool ornaments. We also decorate the house with anything red green and christmasy.

On Friday night during my soccer tournament it started raining. So we were under the tents until the rain stopped or we knew it would get cancelled. I heard people screaming my name and i turned around and it was my friends from Australia. (sophie and olivia. the two girls in the family we had met years ago and know we consider ourselves family.. and we do everything together.) They said when i saw them i looked like i had just seen a ghost. I just couldnt believe that they were here!!

After the soccer got cancelled we went home and ate dinner and watched movies. I was so glad they came, but the only bad part was that my brother got to miss a whole week of school to go to Bali (to see the boy in their family. Who was the same age as my brother and his name was Zac.) The reason i was mad was because during winter my brother got to spend another whole week with them but my sister and I had to go home. :(

SATURDAY:

On Saturday morning we woke up and played sims while eating pancakes. Then at 9:30 i had to leave to go to a gymnastic competiton. They also came to watch me and my sister. After the competiton we waited for my brother and dad to finish their ALL STARS tournament and then we went home. The rest of the day we spent watching movies, eating and talking.

SUNDAY:

On Sunday morning we woke up went down and had breakfast. At 9:00 we got ready to go to Social house for breakfast when we got there we ordered ate and played the UBER hard Twilight movie quiz. (Well for normal people it was hard, but that was one test i could ace!!

On November the 12th we went to the water treatment plant, (aetra) with our class and the other classes who has math the same time as us.

STATION 1: Remove garbage through coarse an fine filters.

First, you remove the garbage from the water in a coarse filter. Our class was lucky because we got to see the process of the coarse filtering. Then the garbage that werent taken from the coarse filter were processed through a fine filter. We saw some small animals pass through the fine filters. What happened to those small animals?

STATION 2: Add in chemicals and stir to create floc.

In this step they added chemicals into the water which made the garbage clump together in this vomit looking thing. (but they recycle the floc and make them into bricks.)

STATION 3: Allow sediment and floc to settle at the bottom.

In this station the sediment and floc settle at the bottom so the water doesnt get dirty.

STATION 4: Water is filtered through one meter of sand.

In this step particles of water that you cant see are filtered. The sand gets changed every hour so that the sand is clean. They dont use normal sand they use special sand for the filtering.

STATION 5: Disinfectants are added to the water.

Now, they add disinfectants to the water so that they kill all the bacteria and germs inside the water, and after the water is filtered through the sand it goes to the disinfection part.

STATION 6: Testing is done to make sure water is clean and safe to drink.

Here they test the water in chemicals to make sure the water is potable. There are two ways to make sure water is safe to drink. It looks so much different! when they show it to you.

That is all the steps and process for cleaning water! Now you know that is hard to clean water. My favorite part of the trip was the last step when they showed us the water compared.

EVAPORATION is the process by which water is converted from its liquid form to its vapor form and then transferred from land and water masses to the atmosphere.


CONDENSATION is the opposite of evaporation. It takes place when water vapor in the air condenses from a gas, back into a liquid form,
and leaves the atmosphere, returning to the surface of the earth.




PERCIPITATION is when cloud particles become to heavy to remain suspended in the air, they fall to the earth as percipitation. Percipitation occurs in a variety of forms; rain, hail, sleet or snow.



INFILTRATION is the physical process involving the movement of water through the boundary area where the atmosphere interfaces with the soil.

Personal Narrative

The Day I Broke My Elbow

“Saige its your turn,” called the coach. I was just talking to my friends. I don’t know how hard it is for the coaches to realize we need a social life as well. But I stood up anyways and put some chalk on my hands and walked toward the bar. We’d been practicing our routines for months now to get ready for the competition in Singapore and so we needed to practice our routines as hard as we could. We were even called on Wednesday to do it. I started with the pullover and then to the cast and backhip circle. I knew this routine by heart and could do it all by myself. I did the shooting star as Phoebe, a girl in my group, called it and then back on the bar to jump on the high bar. It was time for the fly away the big finish. Like in plays and performances this was the best part it was the big finish the one you couldn’t mess up. I did it. It all happened so fast I flipped and then I felt air rushing past me. I was falling, and I couldn’t stop myself. I landed, you could say it was an okay crash except for the crack and the bone being pulled apart from the skin. The pain was minimal but it got harder and harder until the pain was excruciating. I guess that’s how I ended up in the hospital.
I just finished my drink and was heading back inside to go to the bars to practice our routine for Singapore. The competition was in 3 months but we needed the practice. I walked in through the door and past the beam and to the bars. Our coach was already there waiting. I always wondered when the coaches got a drink and went to the bathroom. We started with practicing fly away. The hardest and most fun part in our routine, I guess that’s always true the most dangerous is the most fun! I knew how to do the fly away but the coach thinks we need all the practice we can get. I agree. We were starting the full routines by ourselves, I always picked last but know since Laila, my friend, was in our group for SACAC she needed to practice with us, so I went first. I finished and then did the usual, sat down and started talking. The coaches didn’t like it when we talked but our coach didn’t do anything and just ignored us, but then again he never was angry. My group never talked about anything normal just random stuff. Now it was my turn again.. I knew I was just waiting for him to call me I wasn’t surprised when he called me and said, “Eden your turn,” Eden is my sister and he also had her but in another group. I told the coach always if you don’t call my name I won’t listen so he called me, “Saige it’s your turn”
But how did I know I was going to break my elbow…

On Monday i was at Jess's house. I stayed there on sunday night and this was my last day. We had breakfast and i had bacon & toast. Then we made videos on photo booth and listened to music. After that we went on facebook and watched BRING IT ON ; ALL OR NOTHING. After the movie we listened to more music , watched videos on you tube and went on omegle.

Then my dad came to pick me up in the afternoon and so i went home. I got home and went on facebook and watched TRANSFORMERS ; REVENGE OF THE FALLEN. Then at 4: 30 i went to PIE to swimming, and after an hour and 30 minutes past, finnaly i went home.

Bridge To Terabithia is by katherine Paterson and is a realistic fiction story about two 5th graders (Jesse Aarons and Leslie Burke) who create a magical kingdom in a nearby forest which they call Terabithia.

Jesse wants to be the fastest runner in the fifth grade but that gets ruined when he gets overrun by a girl named Leslie Burke and they begin a friendship and rein as king and queen of Terabithia. In Terabithia they battle giants and live through the 5th grade.

I recommend this book to all readers that love fantasy and realistic fiction who also have a great imagination.

Character Writing

Carlisle Cullen

Carlisle Cullen has been brought to life by Stephenie Meyer in Twilight. He is one of the main protaginist vampires in this book because he shows how he cares for Bella and his family's saftey and will risk his life for her protection.

On page 17 when Meyer shows that the Cullens live in the gloomy town of forks. Because the cullens are introduced on the first day of school. This also shows why they would live here so that they would'nt get noticed later when he shouldnt be alive.

On page 331 it shows when the main problem starts when James(the tracker) smells Bella and when Carlisle sticks up for his family. when he says "she's with us" (refering to Bella) and then James says "you brought a snack" and then again Carlisle says "shes with us" and that also shows he has a pleasent temperment because most people would shout it out.

On page 293 it shows that Carlisle is 359 years old when Edward says " London in the 1560's" and then Carlisle says "The London of my youth" and that means he can control his thirst when he is around blood and humans all day at work.

Earthquake

EARTHQUAKE

On september 2nd, 2009 an earthquake hit Indonesia. The earthquake was 7.4 magnitude with 48 people dead and lots injured.

NATURAL ENVIRONMENTS:

Jakarta is on the ring of fire so thats one of the reasons why there was an earthquake. There is a tsunami warning and a couple more earthquakes to come. There wasnt any landslides in jakarta because the earth and ground is even, because they have no mountains.

PEOPLE INTERACTING WITH ENVIROMENT:

during the earthquake buildings were struck down, the higher you were the more dangerous. People were evacuated. There are still more people to look for...

Dr. Suess ws born on March 2 1904. Dr. Suess real name was Theodor Suess Geisel and he wasnt really a doctor he liked to have fun with his readers. Dr. Suess attened Dartmouth college and worked very hard to be editor in chief of Jack-o-lantern a humor magazine in dartmouth. his job in jack-o-lantern ended when he and his friends threw a party which was not in school policy, but he continued to contribute and that was the first time he used suess (which was his middle name and his mothers maiden name). Then he joined Oxford where he studied to be a proffesser but then took a girl named Helen palmers advice and took art, but later he married Helen Palmer in 1927. During world war ll Dr. Suess started drawing cartoons. After the war he and helen moved to California and wrote childrens books. On October 23, 1967 his wife comited sucide during an illness. A year later dr. Suess married Audrey Stone Dimond on June 21.
On September 24, 1991 Dr. Suess died of an illness.

Breaking Dawn is the fourth and last book of the Twilight saga by Stephenie

Meyer.

Isabella Swan lives a life of fantasy with a werewolf as a best friend (Jacob Black) and a love for a vampire (Edward Cullen) but living in that life of fantasy gives a 1 consequence and that is danger. In this book Bella gives birth to a half human half vampire, no human could survive that and so she must choose a life of immortality or end her life altogether... meanwhile Jacob Black is stuck between two choses either kill Bella or protect her.

My favourite part of the book is when the Cullens gather all the vampires to fight the well respected Volturi and prove that renesmee (bella and edward's child) is not an immortal child. They gather 9 vampire covens to prove innocent. The reason i like this part is because i like the action and you finally get to meet all the covens. I also like this part because it is the end of the twilight saga and it has action drama and happiness all together in that part.

Typhon Morokat

Typhon Morokat was the worst Taiwan had in 50 years. It struck Taiwan on the 9th of August 2009. We are studying this typhon for our mapping unit and for social studies. We used google earth for this unit and some diagrams to help us see where the typhon hit the most also some pictures to see what Morokat had done to the city of Chiya. I chose this picture because so you can see how strong the waves were and what it did. In this picture the typhons waves are knocking down two houses and the one in the front was a big and sturdy house but the waves took over. The waves were so powerful because when the waves went under the houses they cut it from the ground which made them fall.This typhon relates to our mapping unit because we look at were this hits.

the first week of ms was the bestest!!!
i loove middle school way better than elementry cause here u get way more freedom (including the food) and the classes are way more awsome!!! i have french and music as my elsctives on white days and on blue days i have PE and spanish!! we had the mile on the 2nd pe class ad ya i know tiring!!! even tho it takes soo much time and money to buty ur suply's it is AWSOME!! we also had a math test... urrgg... but other than that
